First Blog Post

Hi,

first blog here

In the past few years I realize I've shared a lot of my writing on instagram.

I've liked the story function, the immediacy of it, the spontaneity and ephermality. It disappears in 24 hours for the aliens who are reading this. One thing that really gets me is how you can see who is looking at your post in real time. Instant dopamine, perception blitz straight to the tooter. However, this is unheatlhy.

I've put some of my writing on my story, random thoughts really, and I've enjoyed being able to have this instant shareability. Folks respond sometimes etc. The thing I wrestle with though... how do you separate the attention from the work itself?

I often become consumed with ideas of who has seen what, when. What are they thinking? this kind of mess. For years! And it sucks.

I always imagine that I could break from it, develop a healthier approach. Delete the app, whatever, but maybe a better solution is to find another way to express myself, focus more on pure craft and not reception. I've built this website over this past summer/ fall and it seems like a good starting place.

I don't want it to be formal. So yeah not formal, just stream stretching conscious couch type of bit.

Instagram stories also go away, this can be a neat recording perhaps.

So to the aliens who are reading this... please be kind.

Jack

The Curse

I just finished the last episode of the curse which is likely my favorite show ever. I'm gonna write a bit about the show no spoilers...
